Fanwood Recreation Announces Winter Programs for Children

New programs such as make your own comic book, little bakers workshop, jewelry design and more announced for the winter months.

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Recreation department. Fanwood Recreation presents a variety of after-school programs for children beginning the week of January 22nd. These programs include Lego Club, Make Your Own Comic Book, Junior Scientists Workshop, Passport To Art, Young At Art, Little Bakers Workshop, and Jewelry Design. Each program has different age requirements; depending on the program, children as young as age 4 up to age 12 are eligible to register. Picasso's Basement Art Classes Now Offered Through Fanwood Recreation

The owner of Picasso's Basement is a local Fanwood resident.

The following information was provided courtesy of Picasso's Basement LLC. Picasso's Basement LLC is a new art enrichment program for all ages based in Fanwood NJ. Owner and Instructor Paula Cohen-Martin has been an illustrator for 20+ years and a mom who loves working with kids for 13+ years. Paula has a BFA from Parson's School of Design, a Certificate of Eligibility to teach Art in New Jersey and has been running a home-based art program for 2 years. She's excited to finally bring Picasso's Basement (which was literally run in a basement!) above ground and into the town park recreation buildings, schools, and homes. Picasso's Basement is available for schools, kids and tween parties, senior groups, libraries, and scouting groups.  …

Memorial Day weekend is here and as we all remember the sacrifices that our military men and women and their families have made, many may be taking to the highway for a quick vacation, breaking out the grill for some outdoor cooking, or taking that first dip in the pool. Spring into Scotch Plains Girls Softball

First time players or old pros can now register for the Scotch Plains Recreation Department Girls Softball League for girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. Have photos of your kids playing? Upload them here!

Spring is just around the corner. The sun is shining, the temperature is rising. For many parents, the time has come to dig that old baseball bat and glove out of the garage and head out into the back yard to practice aim and pitch with the kids. Eager to help your children become more active and make new friends? For over 25 years, Scotch Plains girls, Kindergarten through eighth grade have been playing Rec League softball.   Organized by the Scotch Plains Recreation Department, the Girls Softball League is divided up into three divisions: K – second grade, third and fourth grade, and fifth through eighth grade.  Players within each division are split up into several teams. These teams will go on to play each other in April through June. …
