Scotch Plains police activity from May 3 - 7, 2013: 05/03 A business on Rte 22 W reported that spare tires were stolen from several vans overnight. 05/04 A resident from Hill Rd. reported that several items were stolen from his vehicles overnight. Both vehicles were unlocked. 05/04 Louis Gayle, age 37, of Girard Ave. East Orange NJ was arrested for warrants after Ptl. Silva conducted a m.v. stop. 05/05 Tkeyah Sneed, age 21, was arrested for an outstanding warrant by Ptl. Silva as a result of a m.v. stop. 05/07 A resident from Hill Rd. reported several items were stolen from his vehicle overnight. 05/07 A business on Mountain ave. was burglarized overnight in which numerous items were taken.

He stated an unknown suspect(s) removed one of his dumpster from a property on Hidden Meadow Dr. without his authorization. The dumpster is valued at approximately $4,000. 4/22 A resident of William St. reported being a victim of a theft. He stated that sometime during the day there were several people in his house, and when they left he noticed that several hundred dollars was missing. Capt. Brian Donnelly reports that no suspect has been found yet, but police are investigating.
Scotch Plains Police Capt. Brian Donnelly says police are actively investigating the bomb threat to the high school yesterday and may file charges when the person or persons responsible are found. Donnelly told Patch that the threat was caused by an anonymous note left in a common area of the school. "It indicated that a bomb was set to go off at a certain time frame," Donnelly told Patch. "The note was read by staff and the school notified us immediately." Three months ago, Park Middle School experienced a bomb threat, similarly caused by a note indicated a bomb might be located in a certain area of the school. Ciro Perrone, 27, and Jennifer Rodriquez, 28, of Scotch Plains were arrested last week for maintaining a drug production facility at their residence in the 1400 block of Terrill Road, according to Scotch Plains Police Chief Brian Mahoney. Members of the Scotch Plains Patrol Division, Scotch Plains Detective Bureau and the Union County Narcotics Strike Force executed a search warrant at the Terrill Road house in the afternoon of April 9. During the search, the police uncovered a large indoor marijuana grow operation in the basement. The Scotch Plains Police Foundation event took place on April 5 at Shackamaxon Country Club.
On April 5, the Scotch Plains Police Foundation held their annual comedy night fundraiser sponsored by K-9 Resorts in Fanwood featuring comedian Mike Marino. K-9 Resorts owners, Jason and Steven Parker have been working with the police department on the fundraiser for the past four years. In the first year, the event raised over $5,000 which gave the department the ability to buy two bullet proof vests for the dogs in the K-9 Unit. “The event on Friday was a huge success,” Jason told Patch.
