Evergreen Students Take a "Trip" to Mexico
With SPFHS sophomores filling the roles of flight attendants and co-pilots, Evergreen 4th graders got a chance to put their language skills to the test and experience a little taste of Mexican culture.
90 Evergreen Elementary School fourth graders celebrated two years of learning a new language by climbing aboard “a plane to Mexico” piloted by 15 Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Accelerated Spanish 3 students. Lead by Señoras Diana Marcantonio and Bronna Liption, the sophomores guided small groups of students on an hour long voyage, from buckling seat belts to the Mexican Hat Dance. Señora Bronna Lipton is the sole Spanish language teacher at Evergreen. Students at Evergreen Elementary School begin taking Spanish classes twice a week in second grade. Lipton stated that the students have spent months preparing for this event. “We have been learning travel vocabulary like “passport” or “seatbelt” for months now,” Lipton said. “Organizing …
