Clark [VIDEO] Watch Clark's Appearance on Terry Bradshaw's 'Today in America' Clark's television debut is here. The town's appearance on NFL commentator and former player Terry Bradshaw's "Today in America" infomercial series was recently completed and is available on the company's YouTube page. The infomercial provides a detailed history of Clark and highlights Clark's rec program, schools and accessibility. The infomercial was filmed in July, and Clark paid $19,800 in fees to produce and air it. The hefty price tag caused some residents to question whether the funds could be better allocated in town. Berkeley Heights Area Leaders to Honor John Pullara, Berkeley Heights Eagle Scout Community leaders, businessmen and Scouters will join together to honor Eagle Scout John Pullara on Oct. 24. Countywide The Union County Homicide Task Force has been continuing work on the investigation into the death of Vera Pecoraro while also working two other active homicide investigations in the county – the shooting death of a Linden teen and the stabbing of a 17-year-old during a large fight in Rahway. Clark Matthew Dorsi, lawyer for Michael and Theodore Pecoraro, says the two are fully cooperating with the investigation into their mother's homicide. Vera Pecoraro was found with her throat slit on Saturday at her home on Rolling Hill Way in Clark. Police say there was no sign of forced entry into the home and they believe she knew her attacker. Countywide West Nile virus was detected in mosquito pools in three towns: Summit, Cranford and Clark. Officials detailed efforts to combat the virus — found in four pools out of 63 tested throughout the county — and shared tips for residents. Clark Health Officer Nancy Raymond says the finding is not especially alarming and that there have been positive tests in the township in previous years. Cranford Firefighters from Cranford and surrounding towns battled a 4-alarm fire in a Cranford residence on Sunday afternoon through evening. See the video here. SPFHS graduation, a fire on Short Hills Lane, and coverage of the Scotch Plains farmers market were among the top stories on Scotch Plains-Fanwood Patch last week.
It was at least 95 degrees on Thursday evening, but that didn’t stop hundreds of proud parents, dedicated faculty, and close family and friends from packing into the bleachers to watch 369 high school seniors become Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Alumni. This week, local residents finally got the opportunity to visit Ponderosa Park. This beautiful new facility on Cooper Road features walking trails, multipurpose fields for soccer or lacrosse, a variety of playground equipment and swings, and a spray fountain in the center of the play area which can be turned on and off by the user. -SPF Parents are furious with Statue Cruises after more than 240 Terrill Middle School fifth graders were unable to board the ferry to Ellis Island on Friday. Patch spoke with Liz Maythenyi, a mother of two students who were on the failed field trip, who stated that while Terrill Middle students were patiently waiting to board the boats for their 10 a.m. tour, another large school group waiting behind the students was picked out by a Statue Cruises employee who ushered the chosen group in front of the Terrill students. Dozens of eye witnesses have indicated that the employee in question was Statue Cruises COO Mike Burke. Countywide Hot on the heals of the U.S. News & World Report rankings, Newsweek released its list of the best public high schools in the country, and Union County high schools did quite well. New Providence ranked 224 and Governor Livingston High came in at 498 out of the 1,000 schools that made the grade. Elsewhere around Union County's public schools, Elizabeth High School ranked 217, Summit ranked 251, Cranford ranked 279, Westfield High ranked 352, Jonathan Dayton ranked 584, A.L. A month after she first announced that she would be leaving her unexpired term as Scotch Plains Mayor, Nancy Malool has officially tendered her resignation.
