Demian and Amy Boroff of Fanwood will be opening their business Be Craftful at Fanwood Crossing.
Fanwood residents Amy and Demian Boroff will be opening Fanwood Crossing’s second business Be Craftful at 250 South Avenue, this June. The part craft studio, part retail shop dons a tagline “Create, Gift, Giggle” and is a place where you can go with your kids, Amy Boroff said. “There’s definitely a lack of places you can go with your kids, “ Amy said of Fanwood. “This is what we’ve been needing.” However, Boroff said ‘Be Craftful’ would also host nights just for mommies. Be Craftful will be part ‘craft pit,’ as the Boroff’s call it, and other half retail. The establishment will host birthday parties, as well as be a one stop shop for gifts if you’re heading out to a shower or birthday party and don’t want to hop on Route 22, Amy said. …

Fanwood will be seeing several changes on South Avenue in 2013, including new businesses and cell towers, according the Zoning Officer Ray Sullivan's report during the Feb. 5 Fanwood Council Meeting. As Patch previously reported, Mara’s Café will be the first business to occupy the currently vacant first level of Fanwood Crossing at the corner of Martine and South Avenue. The over 3,000 square foot café and bakery will offer breakfast, desserts, pastries, bread, quiches and more. The Café is hoping it can serve as a place for families and a place where people can sit down and talk with no television, owner Marci Semel said. Also coming to South Avenue is a wood burning pizzeria in the former location of the Cavtro Electric building. …

This is the first venture of its kind for Mark and Marci, Mark works on Wall Street and Marci has been in the hospitality business for 26 years. “There’s a lot of firsts with this,” Marci Semel said. “There are a lot of learning curves.” For Mara’s, this is the first location …

The new Victorian architecture at Fanwood Crossing has now been painted beige and white. What do you think of the new look? Vote in the poll below.
In just three short months, the construction at Fanwood Crossing will be complete and new Fanwoodians can begin to occupy the 24 apartments and 8,800 square feet of retail space below. Recently, construction crews have added beige siding and white trim to the large turrets and walls. Mayor Collee Mahr and Developer David Checchio each stated that the construction and design of Fanwood Crossing should echo Fanwood’s historic roots; most notably the Victorian architecture of the Fanwood train station. However, the beige color scheme that now dominates downtown Fanwood is quite different from the dark teal, maroon, and chocolate brown coloring that is found on other redeveloped South Avenue businesses such as Enchantments or Seng Couture. …

While the A&P is close, it is disgusting. It could use a makeover! Hopefully that is on this South Ave. plan. I hope they don't open another dry cleaner or nail salon. I think Fanwood has more salons and dry cleaner per capita then any other town.   more ›
