The water main break occurred earlier this afternoon, causing delays from both directions.
A water main break that occured earlier this afternoon on Route 22 in Watchung at Terrill Road is causing major traffic delays, officials said. There is no access to Route 22 West from Terrill Road, according to a message sent out by the Scotch Plains Police Department through the UC First Alert system. The message stated to avoid the area, if possible. NJ.com is reporting that Lt. Joe Cina of the Watchung Police Department said that traffic is being diverted through the Sears parking lot and nearby jughandle. To sign up for the UC First Alert system, click here.

Cell towers will replace current PSE&G towers while they undergo upgrades.
At the Oct. 10 meeting of the Planning Board, the board approved the applications for T-Mobile and AT&T to construct temporary cell towers behind Parker Greenhouse and at Ashbrook Nursing Home. What both T-Mobile and AT&T are planning to do are is build a temporary cellular tower at each location while PSE&G removes their current towers for upgrades. Both providers will put their antennas on the temporary towers, since they have been ordered to remove them from current PSE&G towers. The towers will be up for two years and will begin construction once they receive building permits, expected June 2013. The Planning Board approved the applications with a few stipulations such as the time frame and the deconstruction of the temporary towers. …

Hi Derek, crews were on scene attending to the break but neither SPPD or Watchung Police reported any other issues then traffic delays while the crews work on the issue.   more ›
