  Monday Weigh Less, Live More is a program by Sharon Goldner of Fanwood’s Wellness Group.  It is a six-session program helping people take control of their health and their lives. The cost is $240 ($40 per 90-minute session) at 7:30 p.m. at The Wellness group above Fanwood Cleaners on Martine Avenue. For more information or to register call 908.242.3763. 
    Tuesday At 9 a.m. AARP Tax-aide is offering free tax preparation at the Scotch Plains Public Library. Bring a photo ID and all 2012 federal and New Jersey tax forms and a copy of the 2011 federal and state returns. What's Happening This Week in Scotch Plains and Fanwood

A look at meetings and events taking place the week of Jan. 14 in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

Monday  At 4p.m. the teen advisory board will hold its meeting at the Scotch Plains Public Library. The board works on planning fun and exciting events for teens their age (grades 7-12). Also at the Scotch Plains library, job seekers can visit the January program of the career-networking group. This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all those who are in search of a new career. The Historic Preservation Commission of Fanwood will meet at 7:15 p.m. at the Community House (old train station). The Scotch Plains Planning Board will hold its annual reorganization meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the Scotch Plains Municipal Building. The Fanwood Planning board will also meet at 7:30 p.m. at Fanwood Borough Hall. …

"Anything Goes," poetry readings, and financial seminars for all ages are among the events happening around town this week.

On Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m., Two River Community Bank in Fanwood will host local industry professionals and members of the community who want to learn more about purchasing a home in this economy. Patricia Weinstock, a real estate sales agent with NJ Realty Services, and Chuck Lero, a Mortgage Loan Specialist with Two River Bank will lead the seminar. Join Superintentdent Dr. Margaret Hayes and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood PTA on Monday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. for Coffee with the Superintendent at Park Middle School. All are welcome. On Wednesday, March 7, at 9 a.m., the Scotch Plains Public Library is hosting free income tax preperation for seniors and area residents with low to moderate income. The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, February 26, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. $5 gets you in the door and all you can breakfast. All proceeds will be used towards promoting the Rescue Squad and recruiting new members. The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that is celebrating its 75th year of all volunteer service to its community. Registration for the 2012 spring FYO baseball season is now open.  FYO Little League Baseball is open to residents of Scotch Plains and Fanwood in preschool through ninth grade.
