The following information was provided by Willow Grove Church. Help provide assistance for victims of Hurricane Sandy, and food for neighbors in need, while enjoying international cuisine and listening to vocal and instrumental music from China. Attend the International Dinner at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church in Scotch Plains on Saturday, March 2, from 5 pm to 8 pm. We will donate all funds raised equally to Hurricane Sandy assistance and to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. The snow or rain date is March 9. Our International Dinner will feature an array of ethnic specialties, including Italian, Chinese, Greek, German, Korean, Scottish, Irish, English, West Indian and Polish. On Sunday, February 10, we invite the community to our seventh annual Willow Grove Presbyterian Church Mardi Gras Jazz Worship Service beginning at 10:00 am at the church in Scotch Plains. A delicious brunch will follow the service. Willow Grove Church's Pastor, The Rev. Cynthia Cochran-Carney, gives perspective on the celebration. Have you recently moved to the area or had a baby and are looking to meet other young families? Are you looking for a church home? Please join us for our worship service at 10:00 am on Sunday, February 3rd, followed by a Young Families Open House. Children are encouraged to come to worship and Sunday School classes for all ages, including nursery care for babies and toddlers, as well as the Open House after. Snacks will be served. On Jan. 27 The Dixie Mix Dixieland band will perform a jazz concert at Willow Grove Church in Scotch Plains.
The following information was provided by Willow Grove Church. The Dixie Mix Dixieland Band will perform a noon time Jazz Concert on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church in Scotch Plains. Included in the price of admission is a lunch with pulled pork sandwiches, beverages and dessert. Lunch will begin at 11:30 am downstairs in the church fellowship hall with the concert at approximately 12:30 pm in the sanctuary. Admission to both lunch and the concert is $10 for adults and teenagers, $5 for children from 5 to 12 years old, with a one family maximum of $25 and no charge for children under 5 years old. The following information is provided by Willow Grove Church. Willow Grove Presbyterian Church invites you to our annual Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols on Monday, December 24 at 7:30 pm. Besides the traditional lighting of the Advent and Christ Candles, singing of carols, readings from scripture, and hearing a special choir anthem, you will be able to view images depicting Jesus' birth in artwork from cultures around the world projected during the service. We always end this service with the congregation singing "Silent Night" and lighting individual candles. In the season of Advent when Christians prepare their hearts and homes for Christmas, Willow Grove Presbyterian Church invites the community to worship and to adult classes during the month of December. Sunday morning worship services at 10:00 am include Christmas carols, a time for children, lighting the Advent wreath, classes for all ages and special music. Rev. Cynthia Cochran-Carney will be preaching a series of sermons based on the book “God is in the Manger: Reflections on Advent and Christmas” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
