Cicadas Spotted in Scotch Plains & Fanwood: Send Us Your Photos

Scotch Plains resident Mike Sabatell sent us this photo of a cicada sighting last week at his home on Edgewood Terrace.

"I believe this one is an over-achiever," writes Sabatell. "Still a bit cold for them to come up from the ground."

Known as the East Coast II brood, these cicadas will emerge between April and June. The result? A 7 kHz buzz could fill the region as the cicadas try to attract mates.
