Llewellyn Jones Begins Scotch Plains Council Campaign

Jones, a Republican, will face Democratic incumbent Councilman Louis Beckerman in the November election.

Scotch Plains resident Llewellyn Jones has begun his campaign for Scotch Plains Township Council.

Jones, a Republican, will face off against Democratic incumbent Councilman Louis Beckerman in the November election.

On Saturday, June 1, Jones attended a campaign kick-off party with numerous supporters. On Sunday, he began his outreach to Scotch Plains residents by walking door-to-door through several neighborhoods. He met and discussed with voters their concerns for Scotch Plains and explained his goals for the town. Jones says he looks forward to going door-to-door throughout the town during the summer and fall to meet as many Scotch Plains residents as possible.

Tuesday, June 4, was the primary election and Tuesday, November 5, is the general election. Jones took the opportunity over the weekend to encourage as many people as possible to vote in the June 4 primary and the general election.

Jones believes in financial accountability and transparency, common sense oversight by the town council of the town’s budget and better communication between the town and residents.

“I think the town can benefit from better financial oversight by the town council," he says. "With my business background and experience with the zoning board and as an involved community resident, I think that if I am elected to the town council I can help all Scotch Plains residents benefit from a town government that works for them and which is more responsive to all of our town residents."

Jones has established a web site, jonesforscotchplains.com, and is on Facebook at Llewellyn Jones For Scotch Plains Township Council.  He can also be followed on Twitter at @llewellynJones4.
