Gary Fisch is proprietor of Gary’s Wine &amp; Marketplace, a four-store retail wine and spirits chain in northern NJ. Founded in 1987, Gary’s Wine &amp; Marketplace has become an industry-leading independent retailer selling wine, beer, spirits, gourmet foods, and giftware. Gary will speak about his founding story and some innovations he has pioneered in retailing over the past 35+ years. Gary has also been a good corporate citizen by supporting an annual wine-tasting event in Morristown.
The Summit Area Old Guard is a social, educational, and recreational fellowship of active men of retirement age, founded in 1930. We hear presentations most Tuesday mornings in an auditorium in New Providence, and we have many other activities. Our dues are minimal, and members volunteer for all aspects of the operation. Our motto is “Come for the programs. Stay for the friends.” Guests are always welcome to attend and to learn about our organization.

Our speaker will be Chris Gaffney, Director of Championships, Metropolitan Golf Association. Conducting first-class championships that "promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf" was the founding mission of the MGA. Today, the MGA is recognized as a leader in championship administration and conducts some of the nation's oldest and most prestigious events with a list of champions that reads like a who’s who of golf. Chris will provide insight into the historic MGA Championship program, the fantastic golf courses, accomplished alumni, great volunteering opportunities throughout New Jersey, and some insight on the Rules of Golf.

Nancy Muñoz, a Republican, represents the 21st legislative district of New Jersey in the General Assembly. She was first elected in 2009. In 2017, she was appointed minority whip, and co-chair of the Republican party in 2020. Since 2022, she has served as Deputy Minority Leader of the Assembly, and she is also the minority budget director. Representative Muñoz will discuss what New Jersey is doing to keep retirees from migrating out of the State.

Robert E. Potok received his Doctor of Science from MIT in nuclear engineering. He is also a science fiction author. He will discuss how consciousness ties to overall human life experience. He feels the relationship is expressed in many of the "ship" words: friendship, stewardship, apprenticeship, authorship, brinkmanship, censorship, etc. All these words describe qualities of human experience and are meaningless without consciousness.

Our speaker will be Paul J. Steinhardt, the Albert Einstein Professor of Physics at Princeton University. His Wikipedia page states, “Steinhardt is best known for his development of new theories of the origin, evolution and future of the universe.” He will explain the challenges to the Big Bang and Inflation theories in cosmology and an alternative, cyclic theory that has emerged.
