Scotch Plains Council to Vote on Shady Rest Funds, Carriage House Poetry Series

Scotch Plains council meets:Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. On the agenda is an ordinance to "appropriate the sum of $138,163 for the undertaking of professional studies of and various repairs and improvements to the Scotch Hills Golf Course Clubhouse," the historic Shady Rest. 

Fanwood council meets: Council will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Fanwood Borough Hall.

Hear a live poetry reading: The Carriage House Poetry Series invites the public to attend a free event on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Kuran Arts Center on Watson Road. Martin Jude Farawell, the distinguished poet and playwright, will be the featured reader. 

Learn about Girl Scouting:  Do you or the girl in your life want to learn a little more about Girl Scouts? Join the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Girl Scouts at 7 p.m. at Terrill Middle School for their annual Recruitment Night. This event is for parents and guardians of any girls interested in learning more about Girl Scouts in Fanwood and Scotch Plains -- whether the girl is entering kindergarten, 12th grade or somewhere in between. Organizers will have information, registration instructions and lots of people who can share their experiences and answer questions. Girls need not attend, but if they do, they can spend time with older Girl Scouts who will introduce them to Girl Scouting in Fanwood-Scotch Plains.
