Mark Erelli in Concert at the JCC in Scotch Plains

 Roots-rocker Mark Erelli will perform at Split Level Concerts at the JCC of Central NJ on Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains on Saturday, April 24.  Doors open at 8:30 p.m.; the concert begins at 9:00 p.m.  Tickets are $20 in advance.

Erelli hit the ground running when he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk contest in 1999, joining the ranks of notable past winners including Lyle Lovett and Nanci Griffith. With a musical catalogue that ranges from twangy roots-rock through fingerpicked folk, rollicking blues, western swing, rockabilly, and even nineteenth century ballads, Mark Erelli has one of the most impressive and varied reputations in modern roots music.  

According to the Daily News, while Erelli's "music sounds like something you've heard before, Erelli takes things up a notch with first-rate songwriting and a flexible voice that alternately contains shades of Dylan, Springsteen, Neil Young and Ryan Adams."

His latest album, Little Vigils has just been released and later this year, he plans to release Seven Curses, a collection of murder ballads recorded with fellow singer/songwriter, Jeffrey Foucault.

The concert will be held in the JCC of Central New Jersey's café, an intimate music venue offering music lovers throughout Central New Jersey the chance to get up close and personal with first-rate singer/songwriters.  Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be available for purchase at the JCC café, Kosher Korner at the J.
