Union County 26th Annual Nature Craft Fair, Celebration of Lights

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders proudly presents the 26th Annual Nature Craft Show at Trailside Nature and Science Center on Sunday, December 6, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. This year the Holiday Lights Celebration and Charity Drive will join the Nature Craft Show at Trailside with the event culminating at 4:45 p.m. as the Christmas tree and Menorah are lit to celebrate the holidays.

Enjoy the afternoon while meandering throughout Trailside’s Visitor Center to admire the many crafts for sale. Included in this year’s event will be wooden toys, jewelry, natural gourd and wooden bird houses. Shoppers will find garden art, striking nature photography, honey, beeswax candles, handmade blankets, outdoor decorations, as well as tree and table ornaments. All work for sale will be handmade of natural materials or have a nature theme.

Children will have a chance to visit with Santa from noon to 5 p.m. in the Trailside auditorium.  A special area on the upper level of the facility will be dedicated to free face painting and holiday coloring activities for children of all ages. Visitors are welcome to add to the holiday cheer by joining sing-a-longs with the Celebration Singers throughout the afternoon.

Many Union County Departments and Divisions will be participating in a holiday tree decorating contest in which each department team decorates a tree with a specific theme.  Employees within the departments raise money to purchase gifts and ornaments related to their chosen theme. Decorated trees will be proudly displayed on all three levels of Trailside’s Visitor Center. Visitors can vote for their favorite tree throughout the day on Dec. 6. All trees, gifts, ornaments and gift cards collected from each department will be distributed to Union County families in need.

The afternoon will culminate with a tree and menorah lighting at 4:45 p.m. Light refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon. Admission is an item of dry or canned food or a new, unwrapped toy to be distributed through local charities.
