Editor's Notebook: Week in Review

A look back at the past week's news and events.

The school budget came back in the news this week as the leaders of our two towns announced how they decided to cut back the tax levy. The news of the $860,000 cut got you talking in our comments sections, as we all wait to see exactly how the reduction impacts our schools.

Other news this week include a roundup of sports seasons, reports from the council meetings and some great features. Here's a look back.

On Monday, we told you about Gertrude Scocozza, the Chelsea office manager who recently taped an episode of "Wheel of Fortune." We also congratulated SP-F track and field star Kim Wenson on her history-making performance at the past weekend's Union County Tournament. Photo-wise, we gave you a glimpse of the junior prom and of Sunday's open house at the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad.

On Tuesday, we brought you the latest on the the councils mandated cut from the school budget and gave you a separate story on the public comments from the meeting. We also updated you on the boys golf team, track and field, and the Raider baseball team's progress in the North 2, Group 3 championship.

On Thursday, we told you how Scotch Plains Councilman Kevin Glover is trying to save the summer concert series.
