Local Youth Bring Broadway to Scotch Plains

The teens will perform three shows of "Fiddler on the Roof" this weekend.

The stage in Alan M. Augustine Park will come alive this weekend as area young actors put on a performance of Fiddler of the Roof.

Sponsored by the Scotch Plains Cultural Arts Committee, the play features middle and high school students and is all part of the student-run STARS Theater program.

This is the group's second performance this summer. Back in June, children from kindergarten age through eighth grade put on three performances of Wizard of Oz in Alan M. Augustine Park.

The young actors in Fiddler on the Roof have been practicing long hours this week for their big debut. Gail Marie Sprague, a student at Montclair State University, is serving as the director this year.

The performances are free and open to the public.
