SP Police Arrest Man Wanted for Home Burglary

The Scotch Plains man is charged with the residential burglary of a home in July.

Scotch Plains police have arrested a man wanted for burglarizing a home in the township in July.

Steven Hart, 39, of Tussel Lane in Scotch Plains, was arrested last Friday, July 31, for burglary. According to a report from the Scotch Plains Police Department, Det. Hayeck located the stolen property and was able to charge Hart with the residential burglary and theft of the property. He was transported to police headquarters to be processed, and was then taken to Union County Jail after he couldn't post his $50,000 bail.

Despite arresting Hart for the residential burglary, Scotch Plains police are still investigating several other burglaries.

Last week on Thursday, July 30, a resident of Short Hills Lane reported that someone entered his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, and removed money and a pair of sunglasses.

Then on Saturday, August 1, a resident of Ravenswood Lane reported being a victim of burglary. The woman stated that an unknown suspect broke the window of her vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, and stole several items.

There have been several residential and vehicle-related burglaries in Scotch Plains this summer. Police are reminding residents to keep their doors and windows locked and to report suspicious activity.
