Lance First NJ Lawmaker to Pledge to 'Repeal It'

The following information was published on his Web site.

Republican Congressman Leonard Lance pledged today to repeal any "federal takeover of health care" passed in 2010.

Lance, who represents New Jersey's 7th Congressional District including Scotch Plains and Fanwood, is one of 20 lawmakers to sign on to the "Repeal It!" campaign, an effort sponsored by the Club for Growth, a conservative political organization that supports growth, limited government, low taxes and economic freedom. Lance is the only lawmaker from New Jersey to sign the "Repeal It!" pledge thus far.

"I hereby pledge to the people of New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District to sponsor and support legislation to repeal any federal health care takeover passed in 2010, and replace it with real reforms that lower health care costs without growing government," Lance said in a statement.

For his part, Congressman Lance is a lead sponsor of the "Medical Rights and Reform Act," which he calls a "fiscally responsible alternative health care reform measure that reduces costs and expands insurance coverage without raising taxes, rationing care or putting the government between patient and doctor."

"Should the Democrats' health care bill become law I will work to repeal it and replace it with fiscally responsible reforms like medical liability reform, small business insurance pooling and letting families and businesses buy insurance across state lines," Lance said. "These are ideas that have strong, bipartisan support but are absent from the Democrats' health care legislation."
