Several School Repairs Scheduled for Summer

Seven projects are set to be completed before students return in the fall.

While students are out of school this summer, staff will be busy making upgrades and improvements to the buildings themselves.

Board of Education member Rob O'Connor says that seven projects are scheduled for completion this summer.

One of particular note is the expansion of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School cafeteria. O'Connor says a multipurpose room that's currently adjoined to the cafeteria will be opened up to make more space for students during lunchtime.

In addition, the high school score board will be upgraded and lockers will be repaired. Asbestos removal will also occur in a multipurpose room and the chorus room at the high school.

Other projects include adding a handicap ramp on the back of Evergreen Elementary, replacing windows at Brunner Elementary, and improving all of the sidewalks throughout the district.
