Soccer Goal Found Mangled on Field

A replacement would cost about $3,000.

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Soccer Association is seeking leads as to who or what destroyed a soccer goal on the Terrill Middle School field on Saturday.

The SPFSA has posted this memo about the incident on their Web site:

A member of the SPFSA field staff discovered a small-sided goal frame mangled beyond repair last Saturday at the lower Terrill field area. The frame was being stored adjacent to the PAL storage container and had been dragged up the hill behind the garbage dumpster. It appears that it was either run over by a vehicle or somehow 'torqued' until one of its side triangles sheared from the crossbar. The replacement cost for a new set at that size is about $3,000. A report was filed with the Scotch Plains Police Department, but it is not known whether any manpower will be directed at investigating this incident.
